INTERIGHTS’ Central and East European Programme seeks an intern for a three-month internship beginning September 2003

Activities are likely to include: Legal research on international and comparative human rights law and practice to support the preparation of briefs before domestic courts; Preparation of materials for legal training or INTERIGHTS' publications; Involvement in programme administration and development; Where possible, attendance at meetings with human rights practitioners, or at human rights lectures in London or other universities, or visits to other international or national human right organisations based in London.

INTERIGHTS’ Central and East European Programme seeks an intern for a three-month internship beginning September 2003.

Activities are likely to include: Legal research on international and comparative human rights law and practice to support the preparation of briefs before domestic courts; Preparation of materials for legal training or INTERIGHTS' publications; Involvement in programme administration and development; Where possible, attendance at meetings with human rights practitioners, or at human rights lectures in London or other universities, or visits to other international or national human right organisations based in London.

INTERIGHTS will arrange and fund travel and visa costs. Each intern will receive a monthly stipend of £1,100. Accommodation is not provided but INTERIGHTS can advise on finding a suitable place to stay.

PERSON SPECIFICATION - Person Spec (September to December 2003)

The successful applicant will: have a degree in law; have worked for two years in a human rights NGO or as a practising lawyer in CEE/fSU; be familiar with international human rights law and mechanisms or have an interest in their use; demonstrate strong research, analytical and writing skills; have knowledge of ECHR jurisprudence and experience of using the HUDOC system and have a good command of English.
