V pondělí 6. února zahajuje Ekumenická akademie Praha již třetí cyklus Pražské školy alternativ, která nabízí pravidelné přednášky, semináře a workshopy k aktuálním politickým, kulturním, ekologickým a ekonomickým tématům. Na projektu spolupracují také Masarykova demokratická akademie, Socialistický kruh, Alternativa zdola, Centrum globálních studií, Eurosolar, ProAlt a Socialistická solidarita.

[ Equal Opportunities] - COMPANY OF THE YEAR: EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES is an award launched in 2004 by Gender Studies. Its aim is to motivate companies to start perceiving equal opportunities of men and women as an important principle of their and their employees’ development and to start implementing these principles in their employment policies.

[ Equal Opportunities] - The label Sandwich Generation has recently been applied to people of productive age who look after their children and their aging parents at the same time. Almost two-thirds of people 45 to 59 years old help their aging parents in their everyday lives and a half of this group feel their help is sought out frequently (Vidovičová & Rabušic, 2003). Given the aging of the population overall, more and more people are going to have to balance their jobs and caring for their children and family members.

[ Equal Opportunities] - At a press conference on June 2nd, 2011, the Czech Statistical Office and the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic co-presented the results of a study titled Work-Life Balance in the Czech Republic. The study includes both "hard facts", derived from statistics of the years 2002 through 2010, and qualitative data from interviews with women on parental leave conducted by Lenka Formánková of the Institute of Sociology.

[ Equal Opportunites] - I was looking forward to interviewing Jana Hradilková because I was finally going to get to know one of the co-founders of Gender Studies, a NGO I have been working for in the last seven years. The other reason I could not wait was that I had always been impressed with the activities of the Berkat NGO. In the interview, Jana told me about how the organization started, what 'Berkat' means and explained how helping people has a positive effect on everyone. Her honesty, openness and unique energy were wonderfully refreshing.

[ Equal Opportunities] - A lot is being said nowadays about the fact that if we wanted a more gender equal society, we have to start bringing up children from a very early age in a gender sensitive way. We all know that in Czech kindergartens, schools and families this has not really started to take place in any significant degree. Until recently, I did not know that there existed a stream and a tool which could accompany and help us on our way to achieving the above goal. It is called feminist pedagogy. A gender expert and academic, Gaby Weiner, shared with us feminist pedagogy’s main thoughts and aims. And since Weiner works in Great Britain, she also informed us about the gender situation in the British education system.

[ Rovné příležitosti do firem] - Starší lidé jsou často v médiích zobrazováni v negativních souvislostech. S ekonomickou krizí jsou znovu v centru pozornosti reformy a výdaje sociálního systému. Důchodová reforma a snižování výdajů na péči jsou vnímány jako nutné zlo, něco, co se musí udělat a je do určité míry samozřejmé. Staří lidé jsou často prezentováni jako ti, kteří jen berou a nejsou produktivní. Nic nepřinášejí, jen nás něco stojí – a to něco je víc, nežli si můžeme dovolit.

[ Rovné příležitosti do firem] - Orientujete se ve změnách, které se týkají rodičovských příspěvků? Víte, jaké novinky Vás čekají v práci? Zažíváte diskriminaci na trhu práce? Neváhejte se zeptat.

[ Rovné příležitosti do firem] - Písať o takto širokej a zároveň špecifickej téme je pomerne odvážne a vyžaduje si to isté zjednodušenia. Tento text píšem z pozície absolventa sociálnej práce, odborného asistenta v zálohe a feministu. Jednotlivé tézy nemám podchytené empirickým výskumom. Vychádzam skôr zo skúseností, úvah, nesystematického pozorovania a podpory z projektu VEGA.
